Situated on a rock basin amidst the stunning Annapurna Himalayan range at an altitude of 4,950 meters, Tilicho Lake is formed by the melting glaciers and snow-capped peak of Thorang La. The trekking trail of Tilicho Base Camp with Annapurna Round mirrors the renowned Annapurna Circuit Trek, weaving through charming villages rich in traditional culture, ancient history, and vibrant festivals like Grand Yartung. Each village along the route showcases well-managed houses adorned with typical domestic produce, reflecting the authentic taste of Nepal.
Commencing from Besishahar at 820 meters in the Lamjung district of Nepal’s western region, the trek follows the scenic Marshyangdi river valley. The journey unfolds panoramic views of Manaslu and Himchuli in the eastern horizon during the initial days. Progressing through picturesque villages like Jagat, Tal, Chame, Upper Pisang, Manang, Khangsar, Yak Kharka, and Mukatinath, the trail leads to the captivating Tilicho Lake from Khangsar. The ascent to Thorang La Pass at 5,416 meters, the world’s second-longest and challenging pass, offers a life-changing experience. The descent leads to Muktinath, a revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, adorned with the allure of Mukatinath temple, 108 water spouts, Buddhist monasteries, and the unique rain shadow areas of Nepal.
Following the trail along the Kali Gandaki River, the journey concludes in Jomsom, the headquarters of Mustang District.
