Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, Ambassador Himalaya Treks & Expedition's representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After a brief freshening up, a pre-trip meeting will be conducted to provide details about the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. During this session, you will meet your guide, who will share insights into the various mountain landscapes and scenic views across the Himalayas.

Before begin on the trek, enjoy a scenic tour of the Kathmandu Valley, offering ample opportunities to appreciate the local culture, history, and causes. Despite its relatively small size compared to other locations in Nepal, Kathmandu Valley is a vibrant hub of diverse cultures and hosts several UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Kathmandu sightseeing tour helps you build up your energy for the upcoming trek.

Early morning, start on a picturesque drive to Pokhara, a city of lakes, offering close views of the mountains. The journey takes approximately 7/8 hours, providing memorable views of hills and mountain scenery.

After breakfast in Pokhara, drive to Nayapul, the starting point of the Annapurna trekking route. The trek begins after a permit check, passing through Bherethati along the Modi River. This scenic trail offers glimpses of donkey trails, village life, culture, and customs. After a 4–5-hour walk, reach Tikhedhunga for an overnight stay.

Today involves a challenging climb up stone steps for two hours to reach Ulleri, followed by a chance encounter with donkeys and fellow travelers en route to Ghorepani. This tourist-favorite village is known for its hotels, restaurants, and rhododendron forests, and is famous for the highest viewpoint, Poon Hill (3,210m).

Early morning, climb to the top of Poon Hill to witness a stunning sunrise over the Himalayas. Enjoy panoramic views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Himchuli, Nilgiri, Machhapuchre, and more. Descend to Tadapani through the rhododendron forest for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, trek to the beautiful and ancient Gurung village of Ghandruk. Witness the unique culture of the Gurung community, explore museums, and visit monasteries.

Descend to Nayapul for 2-3 hours, concluding the trek. Drive to Pokhara along the Modi River. Overnight stay at Pokhara.

After breakfast at the hotel , then drive back to Kathmandu. The 7/8-hour journey offers scenic views of villages and rivers. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner in the evening.

Ghoepani Poon hill trek is a easy trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Ghoepani Poon hill trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 3210 m. This is the elevation of Ghoepani Poon hill . Poonhill is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Ghoepani Poon hill?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Ghoepani Poon hill?
